Conservation Internship

Working at the DIA was a dream come true!

A project that started with finding frizzled blue glass beads on some of the Native beadwork collections, led to researching wampum trade routes from Europe through the Americas and then to co-authoring a presentation on the use of FORS technology as an affordable alternative to XRF when identifying historical glass.

I had the pleasure of helping the conservation team to perform an in-depth study of Bruegel's Wedding Dance. Where I learned much from the paintings conservators and photography teams.

I also assisted with preventive conservation and IPM. I helped with Oddy Testing and assessment of a new cleaning chemical for cases.
